Privacy Policy
Effective 24 October 2026
This policy covers the CastWay app for Android phones and the CastWay app for Android TV, made by Angelo Cagas.
In short
CastWay has no account, no ads, no analytics and no server of its own. We don’t collect, receive or sell your data.
What stays on your device
Your browsing history, favourites, playlists, playback positions, download list, settings and paired TVs are stored only on your device. Playlists, downloads and TV pairings are encrypted with a key kept in the Android Keystore. CastWay leaves this data out of cloud backups. CastWay can only open the photos, videos and music you pick in Android’s file picker.
What leaves your phone
- Websites you open. The built-in browser loads them like any browser. They may set cookies and collect data under their own privacy policies.
- Your search engine. What you type in the address bar is sent to the search engine you choose in Settings (Google, DuckDuckGo or Bing) to show suggestions and results. You can turn suggestions off in Settings.
- Your TV. When you cast, the video, photo or music, its title and its subtitles go over your Wi-Fi to the TV you choose. Website cookies, logins and the original stream address stay on your phone.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. You can clear history and site data in Settings, remove items in Library, or uninstall CastWay to delete everything. Files you download stay in the folder you saved them to until you delete them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
